Are there a lot of pictures for every lace wig they sell and how do they look? The drawback to buying online is that you miss out on the ability to touch and feel tangible products. This is where a top notch lace wig seller goes above and beyond in order to give you a virtual touch and feel. Notice the number of pictures taken of each lace wig. Notice the camera angels used in each picture. Notice the pixel quality. Do the pictures have different background colors that look like a hodgepodge possibly snatched from other web sites? Lace wigs sellers that do not take the time to give you a lot of pictures of their lace wigs are not taking the time and effort needed to showcase every aspect of the product to you. This may mean there is something to hide. You cannot gather a clear idea of exactly what you are buying.

Additionally, with the wide variety of ethnicities purchasing lace wigs, has this lace wig seller shown how their wigs look on various complexions? A top notch lace wig seller will give you variety in several pictures.

How well are you treated? If you are able to get a telephone number from a lace wig seller and are also able to call them within their allotted hours of operation, how they treat you is important. Do they refer you back to their web site when you ask a question? Are you being rushed off the telephone?

Purchasing a lace wig is a detailed process. You want to make sure that you have chosen the most perfect wig. This includes fit, hair origin, and construction options. Your relationship with your wig seller should be the same as the one with your physician.

Lace wigs are a personal product where intimate topics and personal considerations will be discussed. Their customer service and confidentiality with your questions show care and respect. The goal for every lace wig seller should be relationship building. Many business owners fail to realize that consumers are worth more than their weight in platinum. The lifetime value of a consumer is important to business growth.

How much do they know about lace wigs? With lace wigs being the hottest trend, many people that have set up shop by creating an e-commerce site have little knowledge about lace wigs. Is the information on their web site easy to understand or do you need a cosmetology license to decipher their industry jargon?

Scour the web site of the lace wig seller for FAQ (frequently asked questions) or a glossary. When a lace wig seller takes the time to create and maintain a FAQ and glossary section this shows a bit of their knowledge and effort to educate you on their product and services. Also keep in mind that on the Internet, any web site may look as if a genius runs it. Call them and ask questions. This is a fool proof way of experiencing not only what they think about their customers but how much they know about lace wigs.

A top notch lace wig seller should be devoted to helping achieve your new look. Giving you access to a live person during extended hours is essential to being able to build a long term relationship. Lace wigs are an investment. Doing business with a lace wig seller that understands and respects the investment on your behalf in addition to meeting these top five essentials is the lace wig seller to choose.

With the explosion of lace wigs many lace wig seller web sites are popping up all over the Internet. For the average buyer, this makes selecting the best company to purchase from hard. There are five, top things to look for in selecting the perfect lace wig seller. This guide will help you.

How does their website look? If it looks amateurish, in need of a makeover, why select them for your lace wig makeover? An e-commerce web site is like a brick and mortar business. (A brick and mortar business is a business with a physical location where a consumer may walk in and purchase goods and services.) Their physical presentation on the Internet would be exactly the same in person if their business was a brick and mortar location. I am sure you would not purchase an expensive item from an ill looking store visited. When an e-commerce web site cannot and will not invest in their own appearance, why would they invest in yours?

Where are their contact telephone numbers and hours of operation? If you do happen to stumble upon a web site that takes the time to build a comfortable environment for you (their e-commerce web site), how can you reach them for questions? Is this fancy web site like a posh boutique where the attendees may linger in the back until you call for them and when you call for them, do they answer? If you are unable to reach this lace wig seller before the sale, it is unlikely they will be available after the sale.

It is best to stay away from email contact only lace wig seller web sites. As with everything, email may be fallible. Waiting on an emailed response is pain staking. Purchasing your perfect lace wig requires more than an email address as the solo point of contact. At least think about the amount you are spending. Is not your purchase worth more than just an email contact?

You have a telephone number for a wig seller. Great! Let us call them. Oh! They are only open from 9 AM to 3 PM or 9 AM to 5 PM. Most people work during these hours. I am sure your employer would not be happy to learn you are spending working hours on the telephone handling personal affairs. Moreover, think about the whispering you will have to do while talking to these lace wig sellers with limited support hours at work. Some of us would not want our coworkers knowing we wear a wig.

Being able to call from the comfort of your home is a tremendous benefit! After all, hours such as 9 AM to 5 PM are banking hours and many of us know how hard it is to work around this schedule. Why should you work around the schedule of a lace wig seller? Their goal should be to assist and support you. 9 AM to 5 PM are luxury hours to a company bent on accommodating themselves, not you.

Hours of operation is also a dead giveaway as to which lace wig web sites are being run by part time hobbyists or a full time corporation.

Cost Of Wigs And Hairpieces On The Rise Posted by lace front wigs

Major wig manufacturers are informing retailers this week that wig costs are about to rise for a variety of reasons. Reasons such as rising costs of production and transport, devaluation of the American dollar, economic changes in Asia and increased global demand are cited as leading causes for the price increases.

Increased labor costs in Asian countries, where many wigs and hairpieces are manufactured are partially to blame, along with the devaluation of the American Dollar. The endless supply of cheap labor in China and India, which helped flood the world market with inexpensive goods, is starting to dry up, said Diane Swonk, chief economist at Mesirow Financial. China’s Yuan has been steadily appreciating against the Dollar at a rate of just less than 7% for the year. Faster appreciation in the Yuan is likely to help offset inflationary pressures from a weaker Dollar and rising global commodity prices.

Petroleum, which has been hovering just under $100 a barrel, is also partially to blame for increased costs in the wig industry. Aside from the petroleum used to transport the goods, it is also a major ingredient in the synthetic fibers which are used in the manufacture of many wigs and hairpieces.

Human hair wig and hairpiece prices are also rising, primarily because of an increased global demand driven by a greater acceptance and availability of human hair extensions on the market today. Human hair is considered a commodity and the cost of raw human hair fluctuates as all commodities do through a direct relationship with supply and demand.

On the brighter side, at least for retailers, is the news that human hair products and alternative hair are gaining greater acceptance in the general public. Higher demand translates into higher prices and generates higher revenue at the retail level.

Wigs: When All Else Fails Posted by lace front wigs

So you’ve tried every hair loss treatment on the market but your hair continues to thin and your hairline has receded so far that bangs simply won’t hide the fact anymore.

Or maybe you’re facing chemo and dread the thought of having you hair fall out in clumps – adding insult to injury.

Here are some things you should know about wigs if you choose not to go around bald-headed. There are good things and bad things about wigs.

There are also many wig options and features to choose from.

Good Things About Wigs

1. No more bad hair days. With proper care, your wig looks great every day.

2. The full-head-of-hair look you get instantly with a wig takes 20 years off your appearance.

3. Wigs save styling time. Human hair wigs can be styled any way you like. If you don’t wear yours while you sleep, there’s no need to do any hair styling in the morning.

Synthetic wigs require practically no styling. Wash with shampoo; rinse; pat dry; fluff; hang to dry. The style comes back as the wig dries. In the morning all you have to do is comb it into place and perhaps spritz with a bit of hairspray.

4. Wigs are affordable. Good quality human hair wigs come as cheaply as $300. The best synthetic wigs are about $200. Think of your wig as an item of clothing which you will wear every day. Would you pay that much for a very special dress or suit?

5. If you treat your wig well, you can expect a wig (worn only during the day) to last at least three years.

A good buying strategy is to buy a new one about once a year, with each one being just slightly different in length and/or style than the last. This way you can transition from a short to a longer look. When you go from a longer wig to a shorter one, just say you had your hair cut!

6. If you are not sensitive about what other’s say or think, you can make wigs a fashion statement. You can change your “look” daily or even more often to suit your mood or the occasion during the day.

Bad Things about Wigs

1. The things people say. If your hair has thinned significantly by the time you buy your first wig, the difference will be very obvious.

Most people will be considerate and only tell you how nice your hair looks or how much younger you appear.

However you can count on a few insensitive people to announce in a loud accusatory tone, “You’re wearing a wig, aren’t you?!” Be prepared with a sassy comeback for them. For example, “Why in the world would you ask such a question?”

2. The only way to change the color is to buy a new wig. While human hair wigs theoretically can be colored, it’s not worth the risk of damage to such an important investment.

3. There may be some activities you need to give up; for example, swimming.

Chlorine is very hard on human hair wigs.

Wet hair is heavier and your wig could slip (see next point for solutions to this). Synthetic wigs do not look much like human hair when wet and the webbing may be visible.

4. Wigs can slip, fall or be pulled off. There are steps to avoid such a disaster. A well-secured wig can stay in place through a high-impact aerobics class.

5. Wigs are hot – in the literal sense. It’s like wearing a knit cap through the dog days of summer (or a high impact aerobics class!). Ah, the high price of beauty.

Wig Options

1. There are salons that specialize in human hair wigs. Though this makes the process more costly, it assures your wig will always be beautifully styled and well-cared for.

One of the options these salons offer is “sewing” the wig onto your head (using your remaining hair as the thread). This does cause wear and tear on your remaining hair, but may be possible for several years or indefinitely.

For women especially, it is a good option since female genetic baldness does not often progress as quickly or as far as male genetic baldness. The wig needs to be removed and reattached every 4 to 6 weeks because as your natural hair (which is holding the wig in place) grows out, the wig loosens.

2. Today’s synthetic wigs look very natural. Ten years ago I wouldn’t have, but today I strongly recommend them.

3. Some wearers don’t feel the need for extra security. But if your lifestyle makes you nervous that your wig will slip, there are various options (in addition to #1 above).

The simplest is to run a bobby pin through the webbing, grabbing whatever hair you can. Then run a second bobby pin through beside the first one and cross the first making an “X”.

There are also little comb-like clips designed for wigs that you can buy in a beauty supply store. You sew them to the border of the wig (using invisible thread or monofilament “fishing” line) where needed.

[Tip: rather than sewing through the little attachment holes provided on each side, use an overlapping stitch and sew all around the clip’s frame.] Then pull on the wig; flip the comb to grab some of your natural hair; and snap it shut. The clips are sort of like those curved metal barrettes that snap open and closed.

4. Flat or fluffy? With a synthetic wig, you have the option of a full fluffy hairstyle or a flatter one. If the shape of your face will allow a flatter hairstyle, buy a wig with a monofilament section on top.

This is a transparent fabric that, when placed on your head, looks like your scalp! It’s nothing short of amazing. Someone could be 5 inches from your scalp with a magnifying glass and not be able to tell they’re looking at a wig base rather than your scalp.

If your face shape requires a fuller hairstyle, don’t pay extra for the monofilament base. To achieve fullness, your wig will be pre-ratted. When your hair is ratted, no one can see your scalp anyway.

5. Finally, there is a synthetic option which is quite new. It’s even called “Options”.

Personally, I don’t think they have the bugs out yet. The idea is a synthetic fiber that can stand up to the heat of a curling iron and be temporarily reformed. When washed, the fibers revert to the manufactured style. Watch for “New, Improved” versions of “Options”. It’s a great idea but just needs a little refining.

How to Care for African American Lace Wigs Posted by lace front wigs

Proper African American wig care is very important if you want your wig to look good for a long time. Of course, proper wig care depends on what type of wig you have – whether or not you have a synthetic wig, a human hair wig, a dreadlocks wig, etc.

General African American wig care:

  1. Wash your wig after you have worn it around 8-12 times. In truth, though, you may be able to go longer without washing it, or you may have to wash it much sooner – this depends on the humidity and the air quality. And, for instance, if you go to a smoke-y bar, you may want to wash that smoke-smell out of your hair that night, even if you washed it just a few days ago! Be your own judge.
  2. Use a towel to gently blot your wig dry – again, be gentle! Do not wring out your wig!
  3. Now add a conditioning spray.
  4. Allow your wig to dry. You can use a Styrofoam head, but it could stretch out the cap. You may, instead, prefer to set your wig on top of something like a vase or a towel-covered hairspray bottle.
  5. Do not brush your wig unless it is fully dry.
  6. Do not leave your wig out in direct sunlight to dry.
  7. If you decide to cut your wig, make sure that you are wearing it for the best results.
  8. When not wearing your wig, leave it on a wig stand so that it can keep its shape and not get tangled.
  9. When traveling, carry your wig in a wig box – you don’t want it to be flattened.
  10. To wash your wig:
  • Use a wig brush to brush through your wig.
  • Be sure to use a wig shampoo. It is important that you do not use regular shampoo, it can damage your wig.
  • Fill up a sink with cold or lukewarm water and add the wig shampoo (generally about a tablespoon… read the shampoo bottle for precise directions).
  • Place your wig in the water and gently swish it around – be gentle! Do this for about a minute.
  • Rinse your wig in cold running water until thoroughly rinsed.

African American lace wigs care for synthetic hair includes not using a hair dryer or any heat-source stylers like curling irons – these could actually melt and frizz your synthetic hairs. Use only your fingertips or a wig comb/brush to style the wig. Also make sure that you keep your wig away from excessive heat like opened oven doors, fireplaces, and barbecues.

Also, most synthetic wigs should not be worn in a swimming pool unless otherwise stated. It is also very important that you do not use brushes made for human hair – they can stretch out the synthetic hairs, damaging them or frizzing them or breaking them. And do not try to color or bleach your wig.

Wig care for human hair wigs is actually very similar to that of synthetic hair. The main difference is that you can treat a real hair wig more like you would treat your own hair.

You can use hot tools – blow dryers, curling irons, etc. – to style your human hair wig. Of course, if you have a skin-like plastic cap, you need to be aware that the plastic could melt when under high heat.

An important note about wig care for dreadlocks wigs is that both dreadlocks and spiral curl wigs should not be combed or brushed. Doing so could undo the dreads.
